The Transfiguration

Back                                                              Next

In the Transfiguration Jesus appeared in glory, the glory that was eternally His but which was hidden from men while He walked among them. His robe became dazzling white and in the painting a sliver of light emanating from it rests upon the disciples. Peter, James and John were allowed a glimpse of that glory for a short while, until it was again imperceivable.

The glory of Jesus is still under disguise among us. We do not see it in the consecrated host but surely in our presence before the Blessed Sacrament we may likewise be granted a sliver of light.

May the first words uttered by Peter upon seeing this glorious manifestation be ours as well, “Lord, it is good that we are here.”
