The First Mass of the Last Supper was when Jesus made His death on Calvary a perpetual sacrifice until He returns to us in Glory. Every priest allows himself to be the vehicle, the disguise Jesus would use, to offer this sacrifice to God the Father for the forgiveness of our sin. We should no longer believe it is the man we know as our familiar priest at the altar, but recognize that he acts “in Persona Christi.” It is Our Lord at the altar of Calvary who comes to us risen in the Eucharist. Next time you see your priest offering the Sacrifice of Holy Mass, enter into the Last Supper and see Jesus there. (From Jesus’ right is John, Peter, Bartholomew, Simon, Thomas, Philip, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Andrew, Jude, James the brother of John, and Judas Iscariot).
