The healed leper who returned to thank Jesus fell at his Master’s feet in gratitude. The other nine lepers who were also healed already left the picture; in the satisfaction with what they were given, they forgot the Giver.
It is the Samaritan, the outcast, who returned to give thanks. Having been an outcast he lived with rejection whereas the other nine were accustomed to entitlement.
When we feel entitled, gratitude will not be found in us. It is those who know themselves to be undeserving who will be grateful. Do you feel entitled or do you feel grateful?
