The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil
Each one of us, after the sin of Adam and Eve, is standing under this tree. We think we can discern what is good and what is bad. We play God. We even dare to judge God. We say, “Why does God allow suffering? He should not!” We judge Justice Himself claiming to know and to love better than He does.
And we are trapped in this disposition unable to free ourselves from sin. Because of pride and disobedience we are naked, vulnerable and ignorant.
Only Jesus sacrificed on the Tree of Life can free us. Only in humility, obedience and submission will we find the greatest joy in the purpose for which we were created; the worship of God. Only in the worship of God will we know what is truly good and truly evil. And in His kingdom we will have no such questions to ask.
